How does a mail monitor / list protection service work?
DM Trackers contracts mail receiving centers throughout the United States to receive and date incoming mail. These are referred to as monitor sites. Sites are organized by zip code. Each client is given unique tracking names along with the sites they've chosen to have monitored. These names and addresses are called either "decoys" or "seeds". Direct mail marketers add these seeds to their direct mail campaign mailing list; list owners add them to their mailing list rental files. Each time a mailing is sent to that specific geographical area, a mail piece will arrive at the decoy site. Our receiving centers then date the mail and return it to DMT, where we sort it by client and generate reports.
Unlike many of our competitors, who employ college students and other non-professionals to receive their sample mail pieces, DMT uses only certified, professional mail receiving centers. This helps to ensure accurate reporting and a high rate of return.
What sort of reporting is available?
DM Trackers offers comprehensive, understandable reports which can be customized to meet your individual needs. Just click on "Sample Reports" to view.
List Protection Reports includes:
-A continuously updated master file of all material received.
-Dupe alert, which reports two or more pieces received with the same decoy code in the same location. This signals possible list misuse.
-Mailer, date and location of decoys received cross-referenced to your usage.
Information for Mail Monitor reports includes:
-Separate reports for each campaign.
-Comparison of drop dates and decoy receipt dates to track deliverability for each location.
-Computation of days in the mail.
-A summary of the minimum, maximum and average number of days your mail was in the postal stream.
Is it costly?
Mail monitoring is very inexpensive. And DMT's pricing is very competitive. There is a one time set-up fee based upon the number of locations you choose to monitor. (See our order form for details) The charge for services is $1.45 per decoy piece reported. Pricing includes monitoring your list, reporting and shipping. There are no add-ons, hidden costs or surprise fees.
And, if you sign up before December 31, 2003, we will waive the set-up fee. That's a minimum savings of $60.00!!
With our extensive, customized reports, DM Trackers will provide you and your clients with the information you need exactly when you need it.
